HANNA COLTS WIN FIGHT-FILLED GAME AND ARE HAMMERHEAD CHAMPIONS
The Hanna Colts are the Hammerhead Holiday champions. Colts beat the Rockies 6-1 in a fight-filled affair. Trails West Wolves won the 2nd place championship game over the Rockies by a score of 3-2. In the third place final the NWZ Cyclones handed the Foremost Flyers their 4th loss of the tourney.

The Trails West Wolves U18 BC3 team are based in South West Calgary. Home arenas are Optimist/George Blunden and Flames Community Arena
The Fenlands Recreation Centre is a beautiful facility nestled in the stunning Rocky Mountains.

· Playing time
o 3 x 15 min periods. All games are stop time.
o Time-outs: each team shall be allowed a maximum of one 30 second time-out per game.
o A 3-minute warm-up will begin at the scheduled permit time
o No game will exceed the permit time. If undue delays occur for any reason and the game cannot be completed within the permit time, the following procedure will be followed:
a) At the first stoppage of play after time reaches 5 minutes left on the permit, the timekeeper will notify the referee.
b) At this stoppage of play the clock will be reset to 2 minutes and the remainder of the game completed with stop time play.
c) There will be a flood following each period.
· Number of players
o 20 players permitted per game including goalies. A player can play only for one team in the tournament.
· Jerseys
o Teams are to have 2 proper and unified jerseys (home and away). Home teams will wear dark.
· Penalties
o A minor penalty is 2 mins. A major penalty is 5 mins.
o Coincidental minor/major penalties: when coincidental minor penalties or coincidental major penalties of equal duration are imposed against players of both teams, the penalized players shall all take their places in the penalty box and teams shall play 5 on 5. Such penalized players should not leave the penalty box until the first non stoppage of play following the expiry of their respective penalties.
o A Match Penalty involves the suspension of the player for the balance of the game and the offender shall be ordered to the dressing room immediately. An alternate player is to replace the penalized player for the full penalty duration regardless of the number of goals scored. A player incurring a Match Penalty shall automatically receive a game suspension. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to expel such a player from the tournament.
· Tie Game at End of Regulation Time (see “Tournament Format” below)
o Round-robin games can end with tie.
o Medal Round Games: In the event of a tie score at the end of medal round games each team is awarded 3 penalty shots. If the game is still tied, there shall be 1 penalty shot for each team until the game is resolved. All players (excluding goalies) must shoot once before any player is allowed to shoot a second time.
o Medal round games must be decided by a clear – cut winner unless the facilities staff indicates that our time slot has completely expired and asks teams to leave the ice. In this case, a coin toss will decide the winner. The visiting team gets to call heads/tails in this case.
· Teams start in one of two round-robin groups (3 teams per group). Each team plays ONE round-robin game against each of the teams in the other pool, for a total of 3 round-robin games per team.
· Scoring system:
All round robin games will be played according to the following points system, with a maximum of five points total will be awarded per game:
o period win – one point
o period tie – half point
o win the game – two points
o tie the game – one point
· Round Robin Tie Breaker Format
The following criteria decide the team standings following the end of the round-robins:
1. number of points
2. head-to-head match final result (if applicable)
3. head-to-head match number of points (if applicable)
4. goals for/goals against (GF/GA) difference
5. total higher number of scored goals
6. lower number of penalty minutes
7. coin toss
· Pool Standings
Team standings after the round-robin games determine medal round positions.
o The two teams ranked first in their respective pool will play against each other in the Gold Final (gold and gold runner up awarded).
o The two teams ranked second in their respective pools will play against in each other in the Silver Final (silver and silver runner up awarded).
o The two teams ranked third in their respective pools will play against each other for the Bronze final (bronze and bronze runner up awarded).
